Chapter 1 Summary:
Miles is at home on a Sunday afternoon setting the dinner table his dad is there kinda criticizing him while his mom defending him when they all gather at the table his dad is just going on about problems with miles and him getting trouble at his academy (Brooklyn Visions Academy) and now his mom agrees also there not happy with miles behaviour at all, Miles friend Ganke comes over every Sunday for dinner its like a tradition for them because its the only time Miles can come home so they have a home-cooked meal.
Miles father is now talking about Ganke "He's a sweet boy but we don't have enough money for another mouth at his table honey we can't have this going on" Miles mother replied with "He might be coming here for meal #2 but he's a good kid" then a knock on the door as Ganke arrived at the Morales residence he was eager to meet Mr. and Ms. Morales as he entered he asked what was for dinner Miles father replied with your parents would know and Ms.Morales nudged his arm and she said were eating Ganke then said right on sir with a chuckle then they all sat down and they prayed Miles mother said "dear lord we thank you for a good meal and we hope miles doesn't get in more trouble at school Amen" and they began, Later Miles father was lecturing him on life and that he needs to get his act together or he won't succeed but then they started to talk about his late uncle "Uncle Aron" Miles father said he didn't want Miles to be like his uncle because his uncle was a failure he was a thief and he went to jail "Your uncle chose a different path one that had fast money in dark alley ways" Now he's the standard for stupid and an example for everything wrong with his family, He ended up killing him self when he was trying to kill you.
Chapter 2 Summary:
After Miles threw out the garbage he was thinking about his Uncle Aron in the bathroom he kept thinking about when he used to visit him and how he got bit by a spider at his house that gave him his heavenly powers Miles just couldn't stop thinking about it and he was a little shook but then coming back to reality Miles mother was knocking on the bathroom door asking if he fell in the toilet he said he was just combing his hair he came out and his Dad said "All that combing ain't gon get ya nothing" Then Miles nodded at Ganke and they headed out to get back to the academy and his parents waived them off.
As Miles and Ganke were walking they were discussing his last name and why it was "Morales" instead of his old mans last name "Davis" Miles said well apparently my dad and my uncle mad Davis a bad name around the street so he didn't want anything to happen to me, As they walked Miles said I just feel like my powers aren't really working because the meaning of my last names maybe I'm just not born to be good maybe I'm supposed to be Bad in a way then he just cleared the whole discussion.
Ganke wanted to lighten the mood so he took miles to this basketball court where there where three guys and they were playing one on one so Ganke challenged them to a dunk contest saying Miles is gonna take their money and Ganke also bet his new crispy shoes on the line Miles surprised him with his hops and he finessed them with power and swagger than the three dudes got mad they started saying that they hustled them and they weren't letting them go without a fight so Miles went to work and started tussling and fighting with them while trying to get Ganke to safety.
